This is me
Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
I had been contemplating starting a blog as a part of my journey – a blog where I could freely express my thoughts, feelings, desires, fears…my life experiences…and in particular, my intimate, sexual side. They’re all intertwined. And yet, such things are not socially acceptable when publicly integrated and open. Reconciling my desire to be openly integrated in the public domain was all the excuse I needed to hesitate the commencement of this blog. It was during this brainstorm phase that my friend, Eddie, said something that served as an epiphany:
“You need to get your shit together. You need to get whole.”
He couldn’t have been more right. It’s not like I didn’t know this. I’d known for a long time. It took a while to go from passively knowing this somewhere deep down to knowing this with the commitment to rise from the ashes of history and take action to shape the future.
That statement from Eddie drove me to action. I am determined to rise. Tripping, stumbling and falling – all part of the journey. But rising after failed attempts to get whole IS the journey.
